The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey has launched a major redevelopment project to replace its aging bus terminal, marking a significant step toward modernising one of the region’s busiest transit hubs.
The project will involve the construction of a new, state-of-the-art terminal designed to handle growing passenger volumes while improving efficiency, safety, and commuter experience. Planned upgrades include expanded capacity, enhanced passenger amenities, better traffic flow management, and integration with other modes of transport.
Officials said the redevelopment aims to address long-standing infrastructure constraints and support future demand across the New York–New Jersey corridor. The new terminal is expected to incorporate sustainable design features and advanced technologies to improve operations and reduce environmental impact.
