Oman has introduced electric trucks at the Sohar Port container terminal, marking a significant step toward sustainable port operations and greener logistics.

The deployment of e-trucks is aimed at reducing carbon emissions, lowering fuel consumption, and improving environmental performance within the port. The initiative aligns with Oman’s broader strategy to adopt clean energy solutions and modernise its transport infrastructure.

Officials said the electric vehicles will be used for internal cargo movement at the terminal, helping streamline operations while minimising environmental impact. The move is also expected to reduce noise pollution and operating costs over time.

The introduction of e-trucks reflects a growing trend among global ports to integrate sustainable technologies into logistics operations. Sohar Port is positioning itself as a forward-looking hub by embracing innovation and environmentally friendly practices.

Industry observers believe such initiatives will play a key role in shaping the future of port logistics, as stakeholders increasingly prioritise sustainability alongside efficiency and performance.
