Global container carrier Ocean Network Express (ONE) has launched a new dedicated shuttle service connecting regional trade routes with Port of Kuantan, aiming to enhance feeder connectivity and support growing cargo volumes in Southeast Asia.

The new service is designed to provide more frequent and reliable links between Kuantan and major transshipment hubs, enabling exporters and importers to move containerised cargo more efficiently across regional and global shipping networks.

Located on the east coast of Malaysia, the Port of Kuantan has been expanding its role as an important gateway for industrial cargo, raw materials and manufactured goods. Improved feeder connectivity is expected to strengthen the port’s access to international shipping routes while supporting trade flows between Malaysia and other Asian markets.

According to industry sources, the shuttle service will facilitate the movement of various cargo types, including industrial products, agricultural goods and consumer merchandise. The route is also expected to support supply chains linked to Malaysia’s manufacturing and resource sectors.

Shipping lines have been increasingly introducing dedicated shuttle and feeder services to connect secondary ports with major container hubs. These services help improve supply chain flexibility while reducing transit times for regional shipments.

For Ocean Network Express, the Kuantan shuttle forms part of a broader strategy to strengthen its network coverage across Southeast Asia and provide customers with additional routing options in a rapidly growing regional trade environment.

Logistics analysts say enhanced feeder connectivity can play a crucial role in unlocking cargo potential at emerging ports such as Kuantan, allowing them to integrate more effectively with global container shipping networks.
