Hong Kong-based container carrier OOCL has named its second 24,000-TEU methanol dual-fuel container vessel, OOCL Grace, marking another milestone in the company’s fleet expansion and decarbonisation strategy.
The naming ceremony was held at the shipyard of Nantong COSCO KHI Ship Engineering Co., Ltd. (NACKS), where the vessel was built for OOCL. Ms. Annetta Duan, Global Logistics Director of Hayco Group, officially named the vessel and bestowed her blessings upon the ship.
OOCL Grace is the second vessel in a series of seven 24,000-TEU methanol dual-fuel container ships being constructed by NACKS for OOCL. The series represents the company’s efforts to develop a modern, more sustainable fleet capable of supporting the transition towards lower-emission maritime transport.
The first vessel in the series, OOCL Wisdom, was named in May 2026 and subsequently completed its first green methanol bunkering before commencing its maiden voyage to Europe in July.
With the successive completion and deployment of the vessels, OOCL said the series—currently comprising the world’s largest methanol dual-fuel container vessels—is progressing steadily.
Peter Pan, Director of Trades and Member of the Executive Committee of OOCL, said the company remains committed to the expansion, greening and digitalisation of its fleet. He added that the successive delivery of OOCL Grace and her sister vessels would help OOCL optimise capacity deployment and network configuration while providing customers with more stable, sustainable and high-quality logistics solutions.
The arrival of OOCL Grace underscores the growing adoption of methanol dual-fuel technology in the container shipping sector and OOCL’s continued investment in greener and more efficient fleet capacity.
