Panama and China have renewed their maritime transport agreement, reaffirming their commitment to strengthening bilateral shipping cooperation and facilitating international trade. The renewed partnership aims to enhance maritime connectivity, improve port collaboration and support the efficient movement of cargo between the two countries.

The agreement provides a framework for closer cooperation in maritime transport, including the exchange of technical expertise, promotion of shipping services and measures to improve operational efficiency. It is also expected to encourage greater collaboration between ports, shipping companies and logistics providers.

The renewed pact comes as both countries seek to expand trade and strengthen supply chain resilience amid evolving global shipping dynamics. Panama’s strategic location and the Panama Canal continue to make it a vital hub for global maritime commerce, while China remains one of the world’s largest trading nations and a key user of international shipping routes.

Officials said the agreement will help promote safer, more efficient and sustainable maritime transport while supporting investment and commercial opportunities in the shipping and logistics sectors. Enhanced cooperation is also expected to benefit businesses engaged in import-export activities by improving connectivity and trade facilitation.

The extension of the maritime transport partnership underscores the shared commitment of Panama and China to maintaining strong maritime ties and supporting the continued growth of global trade through closer collaboration in the shipping sector.
