Odisha is set to emerge as a key maritime investment destination, with Paradip Port gearing up to sign Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) worth ₹1.5 lakh crore during the upcoming India Maritime Week 2025, to be held in Mumbai from October 27 to 31, officials said.

The massive investment push will span across shipbuilding, ship repair, port modernisation, smart port initiatives, business development, and green hydrogen projects, marking a major milestone in Odisha’s maritime growth story.

The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways is hosting India Maritime Week, billed as the world’s largest maritime conclave, expected to bring together over 100 maritime nations, 200 international experts, and 500 leading maritime companies. The event will serve as a global platform for investment, innovation, and collaboration in the maritime sector.

Recently, Paradip Port was declared a Green Hydrogen Hub, joining Tuticorin and Kandla as one of only three ports in India to receive this status. The designation positions Paradip at the forefront of India’s sustainable energy and port development initiatives.

The Government of Odisha will also take part in the event, showcasing the state’s maritime potential through a dedicated session on Odisha’s maritime and port-led development.

Odisha has already inked strategic MoUs with the Paradip Port Authority for key initiatives such as the Bahuda Port development and a shipbuilding centre in Kendrapara district, projects expected to generate substantial employment and spur industrial growth.

In a major boost to maritime tourism, Odisha will also sign a new MoU during India Maritime Week for developing a cruise terminal in Puri. The project’s first phase will focus on Puri, while the second phase will extend the terminal to Paradip within the next two to three years.

To raise public awareness and participation, Paradip Port has launched a series of outreach activities, including sand art installations at Paradip Beach, along with advertisements, hoardings, podcasts, and social media campaigns coinciding with the Diwali festivities.

These initiatives underscore the shared commitment of the Government of Odisha, Paradip Port Authority, and the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways to drive economic development, employment generation, and maritime awareness — propelling Odisha to the forefront of India’s blue economy transformation.
