Peel Ports is planning to add around 1 million square feet of warehousing capacity in the UK, expanding its logistics and storage network to support growing demand from importers , exporters and supply-chain operators.
The expansion will strengthen the group’s ability to provide integrated port-centric logistics services, allowing customers to store, handle and distribute cargo closer to major maritime gateways.
Additional warehouse space is expected to support a range of cargo, including consumer goods, industrial products and other general freight. Locating storage facilities near ports can help reduce inland transport requirements and improve supply-chain efficiency.
The investment also reflects the growing importance of warehousing within modern port operations. As cargo owners seek greater supply-chain resilience and flexibility, port operators are increasingly developing logistics parks and distribution facilities alongside terminal infrastructure.
Peel Ports’ expanded warehouse footprint is expected to create additional capacity for businesses seeking UK distribution and fulfilment solutions. The development could also strengthen links between maritime terminals, road networks and inland markets.
The planned expansion forms part of Peel Ports’ wider strategy to develop its port and logistics estate and provide customers with end-to-end supply-chain services.
With demand for strategically located warehousing continuing to grow, the additional 1 million sq ft is expected to enhance Peel Ports’ role as an integrated UK logistics and distribution provider.
