The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) has selected Ajit Kumar Panda as the next Chairman and Managing Director of Container Corporation of India (CONCOR), marking a key leadership development for one of India’s largest logistics and multimodal transport companies.

Container Corporation of India (CONCOR) plays a central role in the country’s containerized cargo movement through rail logistics, inland container depots, freight terminals, warehousing, and first-mile/last-mile transport services. The leadership transition comes at a time when India is accelerating efforts to modernize supply chains and reduce logistics costs.

Industry observers said the appointment is significant as CONCOR continues to expand its network, improve terminal efficiency, and strengthen multimodal connectivity linking ports, industrial hubs, and inland markets. The company is also expected to play a major role in supporting the government’s logistics integration initiatives.

As incoming CMD, Ajit Kumar Panda is likely to focus on capacity expansion, digital transformation, customer service enhancement, and competition readiness in an evolving freight market. Rail-linked container logistics has become increasingly important with rising trade volumes and sustainability goals.

Analysts note that leadership continuity at Container Corporation of India (CONCOR) is crucial given growing private sector participation in terminals and container train operations. Strategic execution will be key to maintaining market share while driving future growth.

The appointment is subject to customary approvals and formal processes, after which Ajit Kumar Panda is expected to take charge at Container Corporation of India (CONCOR).
