The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) has renewed its cooperation agreement with the Port of Antwerp-Bruges for another five years, extending collaboration between the two port organisations on maritime development and port operations.
The renewed partnership is aimed at strengthening cooperation in areas including port management, operational efficiency, sustainability, digitalisation and the exchange of technical expertise.
The agreement provides a framework for the two sides to share knowledge and experience in developing modern port infrastructure and improving cargo-handling and logistics operations.
Antwerp-Bruges is one of Europe’s major maritime gateways, while the Philippine Ports Authority oversees the country’s network of government ports. Closer cooperation is expected to support the exchange of international best practices and expertise between the two port systems.
The partnership also places emphasis on sustainable port development as the maritime industry works to reduce emissions and improve environmental performance. Digital technologies and operational improvements are expected to remain important areas of collaboration.
The five-year renewal comes as the Philippines continues efforts to enhance the efficiency and competitiveness of its port network and strengthen its position in regional trade.
The extended agreement provides both sides with a longer-term framework for cooperation and knowledge sharing across the maritime and logistics sectors.
