Singapore-based Pacific International Lines (PIL) has appointed former PSA International executive Wan Chee Foong as its next Chief Executive Officer, with the leadership transition scheduled for April 2027.

Wan assumed the role of Deputy CEO on October 5, 2026, following a board-led succession process announced in September. He will work alongside incumbent CEO Lars Kastrup for six months to ensure a smooth transition, after which Kastrup will move into an advisory role with the board.

Wan brings nearly 30 years of experience across the transport, logistics and maritime sectors. During his tenure at PSA International, he served as Regional CEO for the Middle East and South Asia, led Group Business and Commercial Development, and headed its supply chain arm, PSA BDP. He also spent nine years at Singapore’s state investment company Temasek, most recently as Managing Director for Corporate Strategy. He currently serves on the board of Saudi shipping group Bahri.

Kastrup joined PIL in 2020 and became CEO in July 2022, overseeing a significant transformation and expansion of the carrier. Under his leadership, PIL’s fleet capacity increased by more than 50% to approximately 500,000 TEU. The company also received 10 LNG dual-fuel vessels by the first half of 2026, with another 18 LNG-powered newbuildings and 14 long-term charter vessels expected to join its fleet through 2029.

Reflecting on the company’s progress, Kastrup highlighted its renewed fleet, largely owned agency network, strong balance sheet and strengthened customer relationships.

The leadership transition coincides with PIL’s continued fleet expansion strategy. The carrier has placed an order for seven 1,400 TEU methanol-ready container vessels with China’s Huanghai Shipbuilding. With a combined capacity of 9,800 TEU, the vessels are scheduled for delivery between 2029 and 2030 and will primarily serve intra-Asia and Pacific Islands trade routes.

The appointment marks a new chapter for PIL as it continues to strengthen its fleet, expand its regional network and invest in more sustainable shipping solutions.
