Pacific International Lines (PIL), one of the world’s largest container shipping companies, has partnered with Celonis, a global leader in Process Intelligence, and WNS, part of Capgemini, to expand its global Process Intelligence Centre of Excellence (CoE), a move aimed at accelerating the company’s digital transformation across its operations in more than 90 countries.

Headquartered in Singapore, PIL operates a fleet of over 100 container vessels serving major trade routes worldwide. Through the partnership, the company will leverage the Celonis Platform to create a real-time digital twin of its operations, providing end-to-end visibility into business processes and enabling data-driven decision-making to improve operational performance.

The expanded CoE will combine Celonis’ process intelligence capabilities with WNS’ deep shipping and logistics expertise to help PIL standardize processes, enhance operational efficiency, and build a strong foundation for AI-powered automation.

According to the companies, the initiative is expected to deliver:

End-to-end visibility across global shipping workflows, from customer-facing operations to back-office functions.
Faster identification and resolution of operational bottlenecks through standardized trade operations.
A scalable foundation for AI-driven automation, enabling smarter, faster, and more resilient operations.

Lionel Chatelet, Chief Commercial Officer at PIL, said the shipping industry often operates with numerous systems spread across different regions, making it difficult to identify operational inefficiencies.

“We’re using Celonis because it gives us a single, clear view of how our processes are running in real life. It’s not just about efficiency; it’s about learning how to make our operations leaner and faster, integrating automation and AI into our continuous improvement journey so we can better serve our customers and keep the global supply chain moving,” he said.

Pascal Coubard, Vice President, APAC at Celonis, said the partnership demonstrates how process intelligence can strengthen enterprise AI by providing a comprehensive understanding of business operations.

“By giving Enterprise AI a holistic, living model of business operations, PIL is creating the optimal conditions to drive measurable business outcomes and rapid returns on investment. We are proud to support PIL as it transforms its operations worldwide and sets a new benchmark for the shipping industry,” he said.

Jaison Augustine, Business Unit Head – Shipping & Logistics at WNS, part of Capgemini, said the collaboration goes beyond technology by embedding operational excellence into PIL’s organization.

“The Centre of Excellence will provide PIL with the capability to continuously optimize processes, translate insights into operational improvements, and scale transformation initiatives across its global network,” he said.

The collaboration underscores the growing adoption of process intelligence and artificial intelligence within the maritime and logistics sector as shipping companies seek greater efficiency, resilience, and customer-centric operations amid increasingly complex global supply chains.
