Private equity firm Global Infrastructure Partners India Pvt Ltd-backed Pristine Logistics & Infraprojects Ltd, has opened an inland container depot (ICD) at Bihta some 40 kms from Patna, the first and only dry port in Bihar, as the rail-focussed logistics firm create supply chain opportunities for the eastern state’s exporters and importers.

Pristine Logistics & Infraprojects said that the commissioning of the ICD marks a new chapter in the state’s industrial and economic growth.

ICD Bihta is expected to enhance Bihar’s economic capacity, promote manufacturing, trading, exports and imports, and attract significant investment into the state.

“Bihar’s exporters and importers will now have access to shipping line containers, customs clearance facilities, warehousing and rail / road linked transportation options from Bihta to various gateway ports for ocean connections to international shipping routes,” the operator said.

“ICD Bihta will provide one-stop, single window business facilitation services, resulting in a quantum leap in the ease of doing business for exporters and importers by bringing all modern logistics solutions right to their doorstep in Bihar, it added.

Rail-linked ICD Bihta is part of Pristine Logistics & Infraprojects’ network of rail-linked terminals at Kanpur and Bhaupur (Uttar Pradesh), Burkunda near Ranchi (Jharkhand), Ludhiana (Punjab), Siliguri (Bengal), New Rewari (Haryana), Aligarh (Uttar Pradesh), Gangadhara near Surat (Gujarat), Chennai (Tamil Nadu), and ICD Birgunj in Nepal.

Pristine Logistics & Infraprojects holds a Category 1 permit from Indian Railways to run container trains on pan India routes.

ICD Bihta will create a dynamic and sustainable import-export ecosystem, benefiting Bihar’s manufacturing sector and propelling its global trade aspirations, a logistics industry source said.
