India’s defence exports have witnessed a remarkable rise, growing from just ₹1,200 crore to an impressive ₹39,000 crore, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said, underscoring the country’s rapid transformation into a global defence manufacturing hub.
Speaking at a recent event, Singh credited the surge to the government’s strong push for self-reliance under the “Make in India” initiative and a series of policy reforms aimed at boosting indigenous production. He highlighted that India is now exporting a wide range of defence equipment, including advanced artillery systems, missile components, naval platforms, and aerospace parts to several countries.
The minister emphasized that streamlined export procedures, increased private sector participation, and greater collaboration between public and private entities have played a crucial role in achieving this growth. He also noted that Indian defence products are gaining global recognition for their quality, cost-effectiveness, and reliability.
Singh reiterated the government’s commitment to further expanding defence exports and achieving ambitious targets in the coming years. With continued innovation, investment, and policy support, India is positioning itself as a key player in the global defence supply chain.
