The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has appointed Sachin Sharatachandra Kurve as the new Chairperson of the Chennai Port Authority under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways.

According to an official order, Kurve, a 2003-batch IAS officer of the Uttarakhand cadre, has been appointed at the Joint Secretary level for a tenure of five years from the date of assuming charge or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

The ACC order stated that Kurve will succeed Sunil Paliwal, who previously held the post.
Separately, the ACC has also approved the appointment of Rohit Jain as Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank of India for a period of three years.

Jain, who is currently serving as Executive Director at the RBI, will assume office on or after May 3, 2026. He will replace T Rabi Sankar, who retired from the post last month.
