The Directorate General of Labour in Dhofar Governorate has signed a cooperation agreement with Salalah Port Services Company, aiming to create stronger links between government and private sector efforts in workforce development.
The agreement was formalised during the Government Transformation and Sustainable Leadership Conference in Salalah, held under the patronage of Sheikh Salim Mustahail Al-Mashani, Advisor at the Royal Court Affairs, as part of the 2025 Labour Forum organised by the Ministry of Labour.
According to officials, the deal is designed to promote public-private partnerships, strengthen human resource capabilities in the government sector, and increase employment opportunities in the private sector. Salalah Port has committed to training and hiring Omani job seekers, with a focus on developing national talent and contributing to long-term workforce sustainability.
The memorandum of understanding was signed in the presence of labour market experts from Oman and the GCC, underscoring the importance of aligning skills training with the evolving demands of the economy. With Oman’s labour market undergoing rapid transformation, both parties said the agreement reflects a shared vision to prepare the workforce for future challenges.
Expected outcomes include enhanced productivity, greater collaboration between public and private entities, and improved employment pathways for Omani nationals. The initiative also signals Salalah Port’s intention to play a central role in talent development while supporting the government’s broader economic diversification and workforce localisation goals.
