Riyadh has launched a new rail freight corridor connecting the Kingdom’s eastern ports to the Jordan border, marking a significant step in strengthening regional logistics and overland trade connectivity.
The newly opened route is designed to streamline cargo movement from key Gulf ports across Saudi Arabia to the northern frontier, facilitating faster and more efficient transit toward Jordan and onward to Levant markets. The corridor is expected to reduce reliance on road transport, cut transit times, and lower logistics costs.
Officials say the rail link forms part of Saudi Arabia’s broader strategy to position itself as a regional logistics hub under its Vision 2030 framework.
