Saudia and Air India have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to expand strategic cooperation, marking a significant step toward strengthening air connectivity between India and Saudi Arabia. The agreement aims to enhance collaboration across passenger services, operational efficiency and customer experience.
The partnership will focus on exploring opportunities in areas such as codeshare arrangements, network expansion, cargo operations, maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO), digital innovation and loyalty programmes. By leveraging each other’s strengths, the two airlines aim to provide passengers with improved connectivity and a wider range of travel options.
The MoU reflects the growing aviation ties between the two countries, supported by rising demand for business, tourism and religious travel. Saudi Arabia remains one of the largest international destinations for Indian travellers, particularly for Hajj and Umrah pilgrims, while also serving a large Indian expatriate community.
Both airlines said the collaboration is expected to improve operational synergies, streamline services and support future growth opportunities in one of the world’s fastest-growing aviation markets. The agreement also aligns with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 strategy to expand the country’s aviation sector and strengthen its position as a global air transport hub.
Industry observers believe the partnership will further boost bilateral air traffic, facilitate trade and cargo movement, and offer passengers greater flexibility through enhanced route networks and service integration. The MoU underscores the commitment of both carriers to deepen cooperation and meet the evolving needs of travellers between India, Saudi Arabia and beyond.
