New Mangalore Port Authority (NMPA) proudly welcomed the second cruise vessel of the ongoing cruise season, MS Island Sky, marking another milestone in Mangaluru’s growing prominence on India’s cruise tourism map.

Sailing under the Bahamas flag, the boutique expedition cruise ship arrived from Mormugao Port Authority with 95 passengers and 70 crew members on board. The vessel’s call reflects the increasing preference among international cruise operators to include Mangaluru as a key port of call along India’s western coastline.

Upon arrival, the tourists were accorded a warm and vibrant traditional welcome, showcasing the rich cultural heritage and hospitality of coastal Karnataka. The reception featured local customs and cultural performances, creating a memorable first impression for visitors stepping ashore.

During their stay, passengers explored iconic destinations around Mangaluru, including heritage temples, pristine beaches, historical landmarks, and the lush countryside that defines the region. Local tour operators, transport services, artisans, and hospitality establishments benefitted from the visit, contributing to the regional economy.

The steady arrival of cruise vessels underscores NMPA’s continued efforts to enhance cruise infrastructure, streamline passenger facilitation, and position Mangaluru as an emerging cruise tourism hub on India’s western seaboard. With improved port facilities and curated shore experiences, the port is steadily attracting boutique and luxury cruise liners seeking unique cultural and scenic destinations.

The successful call of MS Island Sky not only reinforces Mangaluru’s growing appeal among global cruise itineraries but also highlights India’s expanding footprint in the international cruise tourism sector.
