SITC International has expanded its container fleet with the delivery of the new SITC Brave from China’s Huanghai Shipbuilding, continuing the carrier’s strategy of increasing owned vessel capacity to support its growing intra-Asia operations.

The delivery forms part of SITC’s broader newbuilding programme with Huanghai Shipbuilding. The company has placed multiple orders with the Chinese yard in recent years as it works to strengthen and modernise its fleet.

SITC has been steadily adding new container tonnage to meet rising demand across Asian markets. The carrier’s expansion programme includes vessels of different sizes designed primarily for regional and short-sea services.

The company’s fleet expansion comes amid continued growth in intra-Asian container trade, where SITC has built a strong presence. SITC reported container shipping volumes of approximately 3.56 million TEUs in 2024, an increase of around 10.6% year on year, with growth attributed largely to the expansion of the Asian market.

SITC has continued ordering new vessels to increase its self-owned fleet and meet operational requirements. In 2025, the company contracted additional container vessels at Huanghai Shipbuilding, while further options were exercised in 2026 for two more vessels.

The addition of SITC Brave is expected to provide additional capacity for the carrier’s regional network and support the company’s strategy of maintaining a modern and flexible fleet.

SITC’s continued investment in new tonnage reflects its confidence in long-term demand for intra-Asian shipping services and its focus on expanding capacity in one of the world’s most active container shipping markets.
