Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, Union Minister for Ports, Shipping & Waterways, formally launched the Medical Practitioner Module of eSamudra, a flagship digital initiative of the Directorate General of Shipping, during the 37th Anniversary celebrations of Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority.
The newly launched module is aimed at streamlining and digitizing the registration process for medical professionals serving India’s maritime sector. Developed as part of the Directorate General of Shipping’s broader digital transformation agenda, the platform is expected to enhance transparency, improve operational efficiency, and simplify access to maritime healthcare-related services.
The Medical Practitioner Module provides a secure and standardized digital framework for the registration and management of medical practitioners, enabling seamless online processing and reducing administrative complexities. The initiative is designed to support a more responsive, technology-driven healthcare ecosystem for seafarers and other maritime stakeholders.
The launch marks another milestone in the Government of India’s efforts to modernize maritime administration through digital governance and stakeholder-centric service delivery. By leveraging technology to simplify regulatory processes, the eSamudra platform continues to strengthen the ease of doing business and improve service standards across the maritime sector.
