Operations at Uruguay’s main container terminal in Montevideo have been severely restricted after workers began an indefinite strike, disrupting cargo handling at the port.
The labour action is affecting Terminal Cuenca del Plata (TCP), the principal container terminal at the Port of Montevideo. Reports indicate that the strike has significantly limited terminal operations and is creating uncertainty for vessel and cargo movements.
The disruption could affect container loading and unloading, vessel schedules and landside cargo movements, potentially resulting in delays for shipping lines and cargo owners using Montevideo as a regional gateway.
