Tanger Med Port Complex has crossed a historic milestone in 2025, handling more than 11 million TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units), further consolidating its position as Africa’s leading container hub and one of the most dynamic ports in the Mediterranean region.

The record-breaking performance reflects sustained growth in transshipment volumes, strengthened global shipping partnerships, and enhanced operational efficiency across its container terminals. A significant contributor to this achievement has been the expanded capacity at Terminal TC4, operated by APM Terminals, which has boosted handling capability and improved turnaround times.

    Strong Multi-Sector Growth

Beyond container volumes, Tanger Med reported robust activity across multiple segments:

Increased truck (TIR) traffic supporting Morocco’s expanding industrial and agri-food exports

Continued rise in passenger movements, strengthening cross-border connectivity

Growth in overall cargo throughput, reinforcing the port’s diversified trade portfolio

    Strategic Global Gateway

Strategically located at the Strait of Gibraltar, Tanger Med connects major east–west and north–south maritime routes, offering direct access to Europe, Africa, the Americas, and Asia. Its geographic advantage, coupled with state-of-the-art infrastructure and digitalized operations, has positioned the port as a preferred transshipment hub for leading global carriers.

    Driving Regional Economic Momentum

The milestone underscores Tanger Med’s critical role in supporting Morocco’s export competitiveness and industrial growth. As global trade flows continue to evolve, the port remains focused on expanding capacity, accelerating digital transformation, and strengthening sustainability initiatives to meet future demand.

With the 11-million-TEU mark surpassed, Tanger Med continues to set benchmarks for operational excellence and maritime leadership across the region.
