Greek shipowner TMS Cardiff Gas has signed a multi-year deal to charter out its latest addition to the fleet, the 174,000 cu m Athos LNG.
The George Economou-led company said on social media that the vessel was equipped with ME-GA propulsion, a shaft generator, and an air lubrication system and that it would be charted to Osaka Gas International Transport, a subsidiary of Osaka Gas.
With the Athos, which joined the fleet at the beginning of October, the company operates a total of 18 large LNG carriers. According to information provided by VesselsValue, it owns nine of its vessels.
It also has 10 vessels on order, six of them are large LNG carriers while the remaining four are very large ammonia carriers (VLACs) with a capacity of 88,000 cu m each. The most recent order for VLACs was in January this year when the company ordered a pair from SHI for $237m with a delivery date in November 2027.
The Athens-based outfit, formed in 2011, is expected to more than double its owned fleet in the next three years.
