UltraTech Cement Limited, an Aditya Birla Group company and the world’s largest cement company by sales volume and capacity outside China, plans to expand its electric vehicle (EV) fleet for logistics operations to more than 600 trucks by December 2026, as part of its efforts to decarbonise its supply chain.
The company has signed service contracts with leading electric prime mover manufacturers , including Tata Motors, Ashok Leyland, IPLTech, Energy in Motion and Sany, along with their subsidiaries and other third-party logistics providers, for the deployment of EV trucks.
The expanded fleet will transport around 5 million tonnes of clinker and other key materials annually across Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra and Odisha.
Once fully operational, the 600-plus electric trucks are expected to deliver an annual CO₂ reduction of more than 117,000 tonnes, while replacing the equivalent of around 39 million litres of diesel consumption every year.

UltraTech has been expanding its green logistics initiatives over the past few years. The company introduced CNG trucks in 2021 and began deploying electric trucks in 2024, becoming one of the first cement companies in India to use heavy-duty electric trucks for long-haul movement of clinker and other materials at scale.
The company currently operates more than 850 trucks under its green logistics programme , comprising both CNG and electric vehicles.
With a grey cement capacity of more than 200 MTPA in India, UltraTech operates one of the country’s largest and most complex cement logistics networks. Its electrification strategy covers multiple stages of the supply chain, including mine-to-plant transportation and inter-plant movement of clinker and other key materials.
