Ahead of World EV Day, Gateway Distriparks Limited (GDL) has deployed Blue Energy Motors’ electric heavy-duty trucks for commercial freight operations, marking a step forward in the company’s efforts to promote sustainable mobility across its logistics network.
The electric trucks were flagged off at GDL’s ICD Garhi Harsaru in Gurugram and will support first- and last-mile connectivity as part of the company’s container logistics operations.
Samvid Gupta, Joint Managing Director, Gateway Distriparks Limited, said the company has deployed electric trailers with the support of Blue Energy Motors and its charging ecosystem, demonstrating the growing viability of electric vehicles in container logistics.
“Sustainability is an increasingly important priority across supply chains, and we are committed to adopting solutions that support our environmental goals while maintaining the reliability and efficiency our customers expect,” Gupta said.
He added that the initiative reflects GDL’s commitment to building a more sustainable logistics ecosystem while maintaining operational excellence.
Blue Energy Motors CEO – EV & New Energy Anand Mimani said the adoption of electric mobility in heavy-duty transportation would depend on solutions that demonstrate performance, reliability and operational viability in real-world applications.
The company said its electric heavy-duty trucks are designed for commercial freight applications and feature advanced battery technology, intelligent vehicle management systems and a service support ecosystem aimed at meeting the requirements of demanding logistics operations.
The deployment comes amid increasing electrification of India’s freight sector, with fleet operators exploring cleaner alternatives to conventional diesel-powered trucks. Blue Energy Motors said its electric heavy-duty trucks have also operated on the Mumbai–Delhi NCR corridor, demonstrating their potential for long-distance freight movement.
According to the company, more than 1,400 green heavy-duty trucks are currently operating across key freight routes in India. These vehicles have collectively covered more than 122 million green kilometres and helped avoid over 33,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions.
Blue Energy Motors said the emissions reduction is equivalent to the carbon absorption capacity of nearly 1.3 million trees.
The company is expanding its portfolio of LNG and electric heavy-duty trucks as demand grows for lower-emission and more efficient freight transportation solutions in India.
