    A landmark achievement has been recorded by V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority, Tuticorin, as the port set a new benchmark in operational performance with its highest-ever single-day cargo handling.

    On 18 February 2026, the Port handled an impressive 2,16,631 metric tonnes (MT) of cargo in a single day, surpassing its previous record of 2,05,995 MT. The achievement marks a significant milestone in the port’s growth trajectory and reflects its rising operational capabilities.

    The record performance highlights the strength of the Port’s modern infrastructure, efficient cargo handling systems, and seamless coordination among terminal operators, stevedores, shipping lines, and other stakeholders. Continuous process optimization and a strong focus on productivity have enabled the Port to consistently improve turnaround times and cargo volumes.
