V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority has registered a significant milestone by achieving a 27.58 per cent year-on-year growth in Sulphuric Acid cargo handling during the period April–November 2025–26.
The Port handled 4.52 lakh tonnes of Sulphuric Acid in the current fiscal period, up from 3.54 lakh tonnes recorded during the corresponding period of 2024–25, reflecting a sharp rise in liquid bulk cargo movement.
This impressive growth highlights the Port’s robust operational capabilities, streamlined logistics, and efficient handling infrastructure, reinforcing its position as a key facilitator of India’s industrial supply chains. The increase also underscores the Port’s growing importance in supporting chemical industries, manufacturing hubs, and maritime trade along the east coast.
Officials attributed the performance to improved berth productivity, coordinated stakeholder engagement, and consistent focus on operational excellence, which have enabled the Port to cater effectively to rising cargo demand.
