V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority (VOC Port), Tuticorin, has recorded a cargo handling lead of more than one million metric tonnes over the previous financial year, underlining its steady growth momentum and operational efficiency.
As of 27 December 2025, the port handled 31.42 million tonnes of cargo, compared with 30.39 million tonnes during the corresponding period of FY 2024–25, registering a year-on-year growth of 3.39 per cent.
The increase highlights the port’s sustained performance across cargo segments and its growing importance as a key maritime gateway for South India. VOC Port plays a crucial role in facilitating trade flows for industries across Tamil Nadu and neighbouring states, supported by efficient cargo handling systems and improved connectivity.
Port officials said the growth reflects consistent operational improvements, optimal utilisation of infrastructure and continued confidence from trade stakeholders. With ongoing capacity enhancement initiatives and focus on ease of doing business, VOC Port is well positioned to further strengthen its contribution to regional and national maritime trade.
