Valenciaport recorded an 11.14% year-on-year increase in import traffic during the first half of the year, helping the Spanish port handle a total of 2.82 million TEUs and reinforcing its position as one of the Mediterranean’s leading container gateways.

The growth in imports reflects resilient domestic demand and sustained cargo flows across key international trade routes. Higher volumes of consumer goods, industrial products, and intermediate cargo contributed to the port’s overall throughput during the six-month period.

Port officials said the increase in container traffic was supported by efficient terminal operations, strong connectivity with global shipping networks, and continued investments in infrastructure and digitalisation aimed at enhancing cargo handling efficiency.

Valenciaport remains a major transshipment and logistics hub for Southern Europe, serving trade between Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas. The port’s strategic location and extensive multimodal connections continue to attract shipping lines and logistics providers seeking reliable access to regional and international markets.

Despite ongoing geopolitical uncertainties and evolving global trade patterns, Valenciaport expects cargo activity to remain resilient, supported by its focus on operational excellence, sustainability initiatives, and continued investment in port capacity to accommodate future growth.
