Vizhinjam International Seaport achieved a major operational milestone in August 2026, recording its highest-ever monthly container throughput of 141,759 TEUs, underscoring the port’s rapidly expanding role in India’s maritime and transshipment landscape.

The terminal also set a new vessel-handling record with 11,011 TEUs handled aboard MSC PALAK, marking another significant achievement in operational efficiency and cargo-handling capability.

The two milestones highlight Vizhinjam’s growing operational scale, improved productivity and strengthening position as a key transshipment hub in the region. The record performance further reinforces the port’s potential to support India’s ambitions of developing a globally competitive maritime logistics ecosystem.
