V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority (VOC Port), Tuticorin, has been conferred the Swachh Bharat Pakhwada Award 2025 (Second Prize – Jointly Awarded) in recognition of its outstanding efforts towards cleanliness and sustainability.
The award was presented on 3 February 2026 in New Delhi by Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, Hon’ble Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways, in the presence of Shri Shantanu Thakur, Hon’ble Minister of State for Ports, Shipping and Waterways, at an event organised by the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways.
The award on behalf of V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority was received by Shri Susanta Kumar Purohit, IRSEE, Chairperson.
This recognition acknowledges the port’s exemplary performance in cleanliness and sanitation, greenery development, promotion of a plastic-free environment, and the effective implementation of Swachh Bharat Mission initiatives. The achievement reflects VOC Port’s sustained commitment to environmental stewardship, hygiene standards, and community-focused sustainability practices.
The joint award was also presented to Chennai Port Authority, highlighting the collective efforts of Indian ports in advancing the national vision of a cleaner and greener India.
