Deendayal Port Authority (DPA), Kandla, has created history in India’s renewable energy logistics by successfully handling the largest-ever single-vessel consignment of wind turbine rotor blades at the port.
The milestone was achieved with the arrival of MV FAN ZHOU 7 (Voyage 2601L), which discharged 132 wind turbine rotor blades, each measuring an extraordinary 76.8 metres in length. This marks the highest number of wind turbine blades ever carried by a single vessel to Kandla Port and stands as one of the most complex renewable energy cargo operations handled by the port to date.
The successful berthing, discharge, and handling of this ultra-long and oversized cargo establishes a new benchmark in Deendayal Port’s operational and infrastructural capabilities , particularly in managing heavy-lift and project cargo.
The blades have been imported by Envision Energy India Private Limited, a leading global and Indian renewable energy solutions provider, for deployment in upcoming wind power projects across the country. The consignment forms a critical part of India’s expanding wind energy capacity and supports the national push toward clean and sustainable power generation.
The vessel was represented by Parekh Marine Services Pvt. Ltd. as the vessel agent, while Ace Global Logistics and NTC Logistics are managing customs clearance and end-to-end logistics coordination. The operation is being executed in full compliance with regulatory norms and stringent safety protocols.
Handling wind turbine blades of such exceptional length requires extensive advance planning, specialised handling equipment, precise coordination with port authorities, and rigorous safety management.
