In a landmark step towards smart port transformation, V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority (VOC Port) has become the first Major Port in India to implement Digital Twin technology, setting a new benchmark in the country’s maritime sector.

The Digital Twin was inaugurated by Sarbananda Sonowal, Hon’ble Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, in the presence of Shri Susanta Kumar Purohit, IRSEE, Chairperson, and senior port officials.

The newly deployed Digital Twin platform creates a dynamic, real-time virtual replica of the port’s physical infrastructure and operational ecosystem. By integrating live data streams, the system enables advanced scenario simulations, predictive analytics, asset performance monitoring, and data-driven decision-making. It is designed to optimise cargo flow management, streamline vessel movements, and enhance infrastructure planning with greater precision and efficiency.

With this pioneering initiative, VOC Port reinforces its commitment to adopting global best practices in port management. The implementation is expected to significantly enhance operational efficiency, sustainability, safety, and resilience while supporting long-term capacity augmentation.

The milestone underscores the Government of India’s vision of transforming major ports into technologically advanced, future-ready logistics hubs and positions VOC Port at the forefront of India’s digital maritime revolution.
