V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority (VOC Port), Tuticorin, has registered a robust 47.19% year-on-year growth in urea cargo handling during the period April–December 2025, compared to the corresponding period in 2024.

The impressive growth highlights the port’s strong operational efficiency, improved cargo evacuation capabilities, and seamless coordination with stakeholders, enabling faster turnaround of fertiliser cargo. Urea, being a critical input for India’s agricultural sector, plays a vital role in ensuring food security, and the port’s enhanced performance has significantly contributed to the timely availability of fertilisers across the hinterland.

Officials noted that the surge reflects growing confidence among fertiliser importers and logistics partners in VOC Port’s infrastructure and handling capabilities. The port’s strategic location, coupled with efficient rail and road connectivity, has further strengthened its role as a key fertiliser gateway for southern India.

With sustained focus on productivity, mechanisation, and customer-centric operations, V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority continues to reinforce its position as a critical link in India’s agricultural supply chain, supporting national objectives of food security and sustainable growth.
