WEC Lines will enhance its ISS service and rename it ISS-PT from September 10, strengthening connections between southern Spain and Northwest Europe through Setúbal, Portugal.
Setúbal will serve as a strategic transshipment hub, connecting cargo from Spanish ports with WEC Lines’ wider Northwest European network. The service will link Valencia, Alicante, Cartagena, Almería, Málaga, Gibraltar, Huelva and Cádiz, along with Nador in Morocco, to Setúbal and Sines.
Through Setúbal, shippers will gain onward connections to Thamesport, Liverpool, Dublin, Montoir, Antwerp, Moerdijk, Rotterdam and Hamburg, creating additional options for moving cargo between the Iberian Peninsula and Northern Europe.
WEC Lines will operate the weekly service with two dedicated 868-TEU vessels in a 14-day rotation. The carrier will offer equipment including 45-foot high-cube pallet-wide containers and 40- and 45-foot reefers for frozen and perishable cargo.
The enhanced service is aimed at meeting growing demand for reliable short-sea transport while providing an alternative to long-distance road transportation.
