Yang Ming Marine Transport Corporation has signed comprehensive shipbuilding contracts for six 8,000 TEU-class container vessels equipped with methanol dual-fuel-ready specifications, marking a significant step in the carrier’s fleet modernisation and decarbonisation strategy.

The newbuildings are designed to support future alternative-fuel adoption and will enhance operational efficiency while aligning with global emissions-reduction targets. Yang Ming said the investment reflects its long-term commitment to sustainable shipping and strengthening its competitive position on key trade lanes.

The carrier has continued to push forward on green fleet expansion, joining a growing number of major lines preparing their vessels for methanol propulsion as the industry accelerates the transition toward cleaner fuels. Delivery timelines and the selected shipyards are expected to be announced soon.
