Cargolux is adding its capacity to online booking portals cargo.one, CargoAi and WebCargo in response to customer demand for digital services.

The freighter operator said that after an initial launch in the Benelux and Germany, availability on marketplaces will be gradually expanded to cover other countries and geographical regions.

Explaining the move, Cargolux vice president for digital sales Mathieu Weber, vice president of digital sales, said it would improve speed to market and also expand the airline’s customer base.

“As the demand for digital processes grows, we are intent on embracing change and broadening our digital reach,” he said.

“Joining marketplaces offers an additional, intuitive tool for our clients to book capacity that matches their requirements. This tool will not only enhance customer experience, it will also allow Cargolux to strengthen its market footprint.

“The partnership with marketplaces is the latest step in Cargolux’s wide-ranging sales digitalisation programme. Service excellence has always been central to the Cargolux philosophy and this initiative is an additional step towards seamless and tailored service.”

The airline has been ramping up its digital activities in recent years. In late 2022 it announced the addition of an API connection directly into DB Schenker‘s booking system.

And at the start of 2022 the carrier added online booking to its website.

In 2021, Cargolux struck a deal with IBS Software for the replacement of its cargo management system.
