Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) is working relentlessly round the clock to serve its customers and ensure the timely delivery of essential commodities to end users. NFR continues to make steady progress in freight loading, and during December 2024, the railway registered 0.878 million tonnes (MT) of freight loading across various commodities.

During December 2024, the loading of a few commodities registered significant growth in comparison to the corresponding period of the previous year. During the month, cement loading has increased by 233.3%, POL loading has increased by 3.7% and container loading has increased by 66.7% as compared to the corresponding period of the previous year. In the segment of other items, the loading of Stone Chips has also increased by 9.5% as compared to the previous fiscal year, during the same period.

Speedy execution of doubling and electrification works at important sections over N.F. Railways have led to increased inward and outward movement of freight traffic. This unprecedented loading accomplishment was made possible through simultaneous efforts to enhance capacity. This continuous growth in freight loading reflects the increasing economic activity in the region.
