The Paradip Port Authority (PPA) has handled a record 50 million metric tonnes (MMT) of cargo in the current fiscal year, PPA chairman P L Haranadh said on Monday.

This was achieved in record time – in the first four months of the current financial year, four days ahead of the previous year’s timeline – and marks the fastest 50 MMT ever handled in the port’s history, he added.

Coal cargo handling reached 22.06 MMT, marking a 0.53 per cent growth over the previous fiscal period, while container cargo saw an exceptional 27.80 per cent increase, showcasing the port’s expanding capabilities. Crude oil handling grew by 14.97 per cent , and fertilizer raw material saw an 8.41 per cent rise, contributing significantly to the overall volume.
