The Japan Ship Machinery and Equipment Association (JSMEA) held a meeting on Wednesday with the Shipyards Association of India (SAI) to explore opportunities for a business-matching event in India.

“Exciting prospects ahead for strengthening Indo-Japan maritime collaboration,” a spokesman for SAI said.

The Japan Ship Machinery and Equipment Association represents enterprises engaged in the manufacture, repairs and sales of marine propulsion engines and various auxiliary ship machinery such as pumps, air compressors, oil purifiers, heat exchangers, cargo and mooring winches, anchor windlasses, deck cranes, steering gears, navigational aids, fittings and accessories.

JSMEA presently has 256 regular corporate members and 75 organizations of supporting members. Its corporate and supporting members make engines, auxiliaries, boilers, electric equipment, pumps, pneumatic machines, oil treatment equipment and hydraulic, heat exchangers, steering gears, deck machinery, shafting and propellers, nautical equipment outfits, parts and accessories and ship’s stores.

JSMEA champions Japan’s world-class marine tech—bringing together top manufacturers of propulsion systems and ship machinery.

From global exhibitions to international collaborations, JSMEA fuels innovation, promotes excellence, and strengthens Japan’s leadership in maritime engineering.

JKSMEA’s interest in India comes at a time when the government is promoting the shipbuilding industry through a slew of fiscal and financial incentives.
