    In a significant step towards promoting sustainability in India’s maritime sector, Shri T.K. Ramachandran, IAS, Secretary, Ministry of Ports, Shipping & Waterways (MoPSW), today launched the V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority’s (VOCPA) in-house developed 11-part ‘Capacity Building Video Series’ and a compendium on sustainability initiatives.

    The initiative underscores VOC Port’s steadfast commitment to advancing green port practices and aligns with MoPSW’s vision of building a sustainable Blue Economy. The newly launched videos will soon be available on social media platforms to educate, engage, and empower stakeholders on VOC Port’s sustainable growth roadmap.

    Covering pivotal themes such as carbon neutrality, circular economy, green hydrogen, solar energy, and waste management, the video series aims to create awareness and build capacity for a greener maritime future.

    The event was graced by senior dignitaries including Shri Susanta Kumar Purohit, IRSEE, Chairperson, VOC Port; Shri R. Lakshmanan, IAS, Joint Secretary (Ports, PPP, CS, Sagarmala-I & IT), MoPSW; and Shri Rajesh Soundararajan, IAS, Deputy Chairperson, VOC Port, along with senior officials from the Ministry and the Port.

    During the event, the Secretary also reviewed VOC Port’s capacity augmentation plans, reaffirming the ministry’s support for strategic infrastructure expansion in tandem with environmental responsibility.

    Speaking at the launch, Shri Ramachandran said the initiative represents a “collective commitment to building green capacity across all verticals of India’s Blue Economy”, reflecting the port’s proactive approach to integrating sustainability into its core operations.

    With this move, VOC Port not only strengthens its operational efficiency but also positions itself as a frontrunner in India’s green port transition.
