CMA CGM has announced three new freight surcharges affecting shipments from Mozambique, China and the Far East, with implementation dates ranging from 1 to 30 November 2026.

The carrier will introduce a Port Congestion Surcharge (PCS) of US$100 per container for shipments from Beira, Mozambique, to all destinations. The charge will apply to dry, hazardous and out-of-gauge (OOG) cargo from 15 November 2026, while countries subject to filing requirements will see implementation from 30 November 2026. CMA CGM cited congestion at the Port of Beira as the reason for introducing the surcharge and stated that shipments remain subject to space availability.

Separately, CMA CGM will impose an Overweight Surcharge (OWS) of US$300 on selected shipments from China to Indian Ocean destinations, effective 1 November 2026, until further notice. The surcharge applies to 20-foot dry containers with a gross weight exceeding 18 tonnes. Port Louis, Mauritius, is excluded from the revised charge, with the existing surcharge of US$500 per container continuing to apply.

Additionally, the carrier will introduce a Peak Season Surcharge (PSS) of US$300 per TEU for shipments from the Far East to Pointe des Galets, Réunion, effective 15 November 2026. The charge will cover all cargo types. For shipments originating in China, its application will depend on the relevant Shanghai Shipping Exchange filing requirements, or the surcharge may be incorporated into the ocean freight rate.

Other applicable charges, including bunker-related surcharges, terminal handling charges and local fees, will continue to apply.
