Amazon Air Cargo has officially launched operations in the Dominican Republic, expanding its air freight network in the Caribbean.
In a LinkedIn post, Tom Bradley, Global Director and GM of Air Cargo, said the Dominican Republic marks Amazon Air Cargo’s first Caribbean market and its second in Latin America after Colombia, in partnership with its customer ALK Global Logistic.
The new flight service operates seven weekly flights connecting Miami International Airport (MIA) to Las Américas International Airport (SDQ) using the Boeing 767 freighter.
This provides 770 metric tonnes of weekly cargo capacity. “Supporting logistics companies, including couriers, freight forwarders, exporters, etc, with reliable middle-mile air capacity to strengthen trade routes and create new opportunities for local businesses,” says Bradley.

In June this year, Amazon Air Cargo and Avianca Cargo expanded their Bogotá–Miami freighter service to twice-daily flights.
Amazon Air currently operates a fleet of 98 aircraft, comprising 10 Airbus A330 freighters, 29 Boeing 737 freighters, and 59 Boeing 767 freighters. The 10 Airbus A330 freighters are operated by Hawaiian Airlines, a subsidiary of the Alaska Air Group, with the tenth aircraft named ‘Resilience.’
The carrier operates an extensive network spanning North America, Latin America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia.
