The V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority (VOC Port) has announced that its newly commissioned Direct Port Entry (DPE) facility has crossed a significant milestone by handling 10,465 TEUs of export containers up to August 2025. The landmark 10,000 TEU mark was achieved on August 27, just four months after the facility was inaugurated in April.

The DPE facility contributed 7.15% of the port’s total export-laden volume of 1,46,418 TEUs during the April–August period, reflecting strong support from trade stakeholders.

According to the port, the facility has been catering effectively to hinterland customers by enabling seamless direct connectivity to the terminal, which has ensured faster cargo movement and reduced logistics costs.

Port officials expressed confidence that the DPE initiative will continue to strengthen VOC Port’s role as a gateway for South India’s trade and enhance its competitiveness in global shipping networks.
