Uttar Pradesh MSME Minister Rakesh Sachan on Saturday said entrepreneurs in the state had expressed concern over US tariffs, but the government stepped in to reassure them that no enterprise would be impacted.
Speaking at a knowledge session during the UP International Trade Show (UP ITS) in Greater Noida, Sachan said officials reached out to business owners in Bhadohi, Mirzapur, Kanpur, and other districts to ensure their operations were not affected. “Uttar Pradesh is the growth engine of India. Our government’s goal is to make UP an e-commerce hub of India,” he added.
Industrial Development Minister Nand Gopal Gupta, also addressing the session titled “E-Commerce: The New Frontier for Indian Exports,” said the trade show would not only boost export opportunities for UP but also create new avenues of investment for young entrepreneurs.
Highlighting the state’s economic journey over the past eight years, Gupta said UP’s exports had more than doubled—from ₹84,000 crore to ₹1.86 lakh crore—and reaffirmed the state’s target of becoming a $1-trillion economy. He noted that the recently finalised Export Promotion Policy 2025-30 had been widely praised by exporters for addressing sectoral concerns.
“Fundamental industries of any place play a leading role in driving its economy. In line with the Prime Minister’s vision, we have not only prepared the blueprint for ‘Vocal for Local’ and the journey from Local to Global but have also implemented it,” Gupta said.
Amazon India’s Export Policy Lead Shubhra Jain also addressed the session, noting that UP’s manufacturing base offered immense potential. “Whether it is Moradabad, Bijnor, or any other district, you will find entrepreneurs everywhere who make excellent products,” she said.
