DP World has introduced a new twice-weekly EXIM rail service connecting Powarkheda in Madhya Pradesh to the Nhava Sheva container terminal in Mumbai, enhancing the state’s access to global and domestic markets. The service operates from DP World’s Multimodal Logistics Hub at Powarkheda, which integrates warehouses, an inland container yard, cold storage, agri-processing facilities, and a dedicated rail area for direct cargo handling.
Adhendru Jain, Vice President, Rail and Inland Terminals, DP World Subcontinent, said the hub significantly reduces transit time and can cut emissions by nearly 70% compared to road transport. The new service offers a three-day transit from industrial hubs such as Mandideep, Bhopal, Itarsi, and Raisen to Nhava Sheva.
Industries across agri-processing, chemicals, food, steel, textiles, and cement are expected to benefit from improved reliability and bonded warehousing. The facility can handle over 1,400 TEUs monthly, with the potential to scale as demand rises. DP World continues to expand its nationwide inland network, which includes more than 50 rail routes and over 100 owned container rakes.
