CMA CGM has launched a new container service branded KEA, aimed at strengthening connectivity across key Asia trade lanes, the French shipping group said.

The KEA service is designed to offer faster transit times and improved schedule reliability, linking major export and import hubs while responding to rising demand from regional manufacturing and consumption centres. CMA CGM said the service will enhance network coverage and provide customers with additional routing options.

The carrier has deployed modern, fuel-efficient vessels on the rotation, aligning with its broader strategy to optimise capacity deployment and reduce environmental impact. The service also supports CMA CGM’s efforts to capture growth in intra-Asia and Asia-linked trades amid shifting supply chains.

Industry sources said the KEA service is expected to improve cargo flows for a range of commodities, including consumer goods, industrial products and intermediate inputs, by offering more direct port calls and reduced transhipment requirements.

CMA CGM added that the launch reflects its continued focus on service differentiation and customer-centric network design, as liner operators recalibrate services in response to evolving trade patterns and competitive pressures.
