    Shri Vijay Kumar, IAS, Secretary, Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW), Government of India, today inaugurated the Trade Promotion Centre and VOC Port Guest House at Chennai, marking a significant step towards strengthening trade facilitation and port-led economic development in the region. The inauguration took place in the presence of Shri Susanta Kumar Purohit, IRSEE, Chairperson, and Shri Rajesh Soundararajan, IAS, Deputy Chairperson, along with senior officials of the Port.

    The newly inaugurated facilities are envisioned to enhance stakeholder engagement, provide modern infrastructure support, and contribute meaningfully to industrial growth and maritime trade promotion.

    As part of his official tour, Shri Vijay Kumar, IAS, also visited Kamarajar Port Limited (KPL). On arrival at the KPL Administrative Office, he was accorded a Guard of Honour by CISF, followed by a sapling plantation ceremony, symbolising the Port’s strong commitment to sustainability and green development.

    He was formally received and felicitated by senior officials of Kamarajar Port Limited, underscoring the Ministry’s continued focus on infrastructure development, sustainability, and operational excellence across India’s major ports.
