V.O. Chidambaranar (V.O.C.) Port has been awarded a prestigious Platinum Rating in recognition of its sustainable infrastructure and energy-efficient buildings, marking a significant milestone in the port’s green transformation journey.

The certification acknowledges the port’s commitment to eco-friendly construction practices, renewable energy integration, and enhanced energy performance standards across its administrative and operational facilities. Officials said the rating reflects adherence to rigorous environmental benchmarks covering energy efficiency, water conservation, waste management, and reduced carbon emissions.

Port authorities highlighted initiatives such as the installation of rooftop solar power systems, LED lighting upgrades, rainwater harvesting mechanisms, and environmentally responsible building materials, which collectively contributed to the top-tier recognition.

The achievement aligns with the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways’ broader agenda to promote sustainable port development and reduce the environmental footprint of maritime infrastructure in India.

V.O.C. Port officials stated that the Platinum Rating reinforces their commitment to advancing green port initiatives and supporting India’s national climate and sustainability goals while maintaining operational excellence.
