Apeejay Shipping has expanded its fleet with the induction of APJ Karan 2, a 3,000-ton geared multipurpose vessel, reinforcing its long-term strategy of measured fleet diversification and enhanced operational capability.

The newly acquired vessel is equipped with two 60-ton cranes and has a carrying capacity of 243 TEUs, including 24 reefer units. Designed to handle a diverse mix of project cargo and containerized shipments, APJ Karan 2 offers the flexibility and precision required for evolving trade patterns, particularly in island and coastal sectors.

The addition aligns with the company’s philosophy that shipping extends beyond cargo movement to connecting communities, supporting livelihoods, and strengthening the nation’s maritime arteries. With her geared configuration and multipurpose design, APJ Karan 2 is positioned to efficiently serve niche and regional trade routes that demand operational versatility.

Company officials noted that each vessel inducted into the fleet represents more than expanded capacity — it reflects a continued commitment to reliability, trust, and service excellence. The acquisition of APJ Karan 2 marks a strategic step toward broadening the fleet profile while staying anchored in the company’s legacy and adaptive growth approach.

With this addition, Apeejay Shipping further consolidates its presence in the coastal and short-sea shipping segment, sailing steadily toward future-ready maritime solutions.
